Mary Anne Hobbs
Wild Angels, as Ms. Hobbs titles this new comp, comes from an expression she used to describe Alice Coltrane. This album is a well thought out mix of new electronic artists, think Alice Coltrane and Sun Ra's hypothetical child musician in the year 2030. Call it downtempo dubstep hip hop beats bumps whatever, its the next in music. And this video is a blend of songs from the album, some imagery of Mary Anne Hobbs and some smoke and mirrors.

Mo Mewsik//Paxico Blues Fest
So now that I've securley planted my roots here in the Pacific Northwest, I've had a chance to make a little more music, mixes, etc. Just gettin my funk on. Listen to the newness at MySpace while I Twitter you're Yahoo.
Also, the Paxico Blues Fest is this weekend, and that means that the Paxico Records Blues Fest Afterparty is upon us. Check out the lineup of talent: Asia and the Flavors, Sicilian Vibration, Sheriff Groove, John Coperine, C-Dose, and many expected guest appearances, (maybe even Buckshot Gideon!). On the ill vibe Pax!

Smithy
I would like to call attention to my friend and professor from school, Steve Smith, and his blog/photos of new work. This one piece in particular had my laughing and thinking and somehow feeling patriotic (with a hint of lackluster).
He writes, "It truly was a blessed day. Garbage Day and Pioneer Day (aka Land Pirates Day) coincided on the same day. I got my dome fried shooting 115 different pictures of flags in close proximity of garbage cans. I have been futzing around with them and there may be yet another alleged movie/ flip book in the works. It is a beautiful little dance they do... It was fun and boring to shoot. The fun part being when a woman from the neighborhood watch group came out to bust my balls. She asked me what I was doing and I happily replied that I was taking pictures of all the flags. "Oh let me move that garbage cans for you." I said that it was OK."
Love the new work, Steve. Anyone feel free to take a closer look, HERE. But don't bust his balls...

NATURE, lab
The Edna Lawrence Nature Lab in Providence, RI is one of my favorite places in the world. A quaint little hands on museum of oddities and beings is endless in its diversity and awe. Props to all who keep it alive (and to all who made this nice little video)!!!

Love and Soul
Wow! Lee Fields! This man is a modern day soul god. Like a male version of Sharon Jones, with a hint of Darondo, and always smooth and about love. This goes out to that special someone... I love you.

Low End Theory Podcasts
The best rising podcast in my mind, comes from the club in LA that bears the same name; Low End Theory. Home to such musicians as Daddy Kev, DJ Nobody, D-Styles, Gas Lamp Killer and more, with guest artists that include Flying Lotus, Samiyam, Daedelus, Mix Master Mike, the list continues to go on and on... Check HERE for the podcast if nothing else, they are truly perfect.
